        The Nebraska City Fire Department is taking applications for Fire Apparatus Engineer. General duties are the ability to operate, drive and pump fire apparatus, as well as general knowledge in maintaining all firefighting apparatus, elementary mechanics for fire apparatus. Position is responsible for the operation of motor equipment in responding to alarms, applying special skills learned on the job.

Minimum requirements include:

​

     Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; must be 21 years of age; must be a licensed EMT in good standing within one-year of employment per HHS Rule and Regulation Title 172 NAC 11; Nebraska or NPQB Nationally Certified Fire Fighter I within one-year of employment; valid NE driver’s license. Must have knowledge of mechanics or the performance of work requiring manual skill and dexterity. Must be able to work varied hours, weekends & holidays. Shift requirements: 24 hours on, 48 hours off. Residency is required within jurisdictional city limits.

Starting salary is $18.62/hr.; based on shift hours. Excellent medical, dental, vacation & retirement benefits.
